DORA financial divisions join Military Saves Week initiative, Feb. 27-March 4
DENVER — Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) financial divisions — Banking, Financial Services, and Securities — will join together during 2017 Military Saves Week, February 27–March 4, to encourage more members of the military and their families to take time to understand how to make important financial decisions that could help to ensure their savings are protected throughout their lives.
DORA’s divisions join hundreds of other government and military organizations from across the nation to participate in Military Saves Week, an annual campaign to bring greater awareness of the educational and community resources available to military members and their families that empower them to learn how to manage their personal finances.
As a consumer protection agency, DORA’s divisions will encourage smart financial preparedness and provide information that helps service members and their families learn how to set financial goals, make a plan, and build savings. They will also help spread the message of financial responsibility by issuing financial-related consumer alerts, social media postings, and by participating at the FUNancial Fair at Peterson Airforce Base in Colorado Springs.
“Unfortunately, military members, both active duty and veterans, can be targets for financial scammers who seek to exploit them,” said DORA Executive Director Joe Neguse. “We are deeply committed to helping raise awareness around the financial exploitation risks and scams that target and harm members of our military community.”
