DORA Deputy Executive Director
Patricia Salazar was appointed Deputy Executive Director on August 15, 2016. She was appointed by former DORA Executive Director Joe Neguse as the state’s Commissioner of Financial Services and Director of DORA's Division of Financial Services in November 2015. As Colorado’s Commissioner of Financial Services, Salazar involved stakeholders in its rulemaking process early-on and greatly expanding the Division’s engagement efforts, including spearheading a month-long financial literacy awareness campaign involving multiple DORA divisions. Prior to being appointed Colorado’s Commissioner of Financial Services, Salazar previously served at California’s financial services regulator, the Department of Business Oversight, where she served as a deputy commissioner. She was responsible for public affairs, policy development, and communications. She also managed the department’s performance planning unit, consumer services office and statewide investor and financial education programs.
Previously she served as the state legislative and regulatory lobbyist for the California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues. Prior to joining the trade association, she served as a consultant to the organization as well as other for-profit and nonprofit clients on public affairs and strategies related to local, state and federal legislation. She earned a Master of Public Administration from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from California State University, Northridge.
