Employment Discrimination

Prohibited discriminatory practices in employment must be based on certain protected classes and include these adverse actions, among others: discharge, discipline, suspension, harassment, terms and conditions, failure to accommodate and retaliation.

Protected classes for employment discrimination are: Race, Color, Religion, Creed, National Origin, Ancestry, Sex, Pregnancy, Age, Sexual Orientation (incl. transgender status), Physical or Mental Disability, Marriage to a Co-Worker and Retaliation for Engaging in Protected Activity (opposing a discriminatory practice or participating in an employment discrimination proceeding).

Legally, a charge of discrimination must be filed within six months of an adverse action in employment discrimination claims.

  • Filing a Charge of Discrimination in person at CCRD:  When: Tuesdays (that are not State holidays), between 8:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. (no appointment necessary - first come, first served basis ). Location:  Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA), 1560 Broadway, Lobby Level Welcome Center, Denver, Colorado.

    • If you require the assistance of a language interpreter for a language other than Spanish, please contact our office so that we can make appropriate agrranments for you. 

    • Your may complete your Complaint Intake Packet by using CaseConnect (below)  prior to filing of a Charge of Discrimination in person.


  • Learn about CaseConnect and file a complaint intake form. CaseConnect is the Colorado Civil Rights Division’s electronic case management system which allows for online submission of intake and case information as well as evidence.  The system also enables parties to check the status of discrimination claims and communicate with the Division
