Denver/Aurora and surrounding communities invited to civil rights input meeting October 22

State Civil Rights Commission and Division staff to hold public meetings at Montbello Recreation Center

DENVER. - (Oct. 13, 2015) -  If you or someone you know has experienced discrimination in your community, or if you have suggestions for the state of Colorado on its enforcement of civil rights laws in employment, housing or public accommodations, you are encouraged to meet with and share your experiences with the Colorado Civil Rights Commission and the Colorado Civil Rights Division. 

WHAT:  Denver/Aurora residents and surrounding communities are invited to meet Colorado Civil Rights Commission members and Colorado Civil Rights Division staff to discuss issues or concerns and provide input involving their communities and civil rights. Both meetings are free and open to the public. Sign language and Spanish language interpreter provided upon request.

TIMES:

  • CIVIL RIGHTS COMMISSION MEETING:  4:30 p.m.
  • PUBLIC FORUM:  6:30 to 8:30 p.m. – Refreshments Served
    Civil Rights Commission members and Colorado Civil Rights Division staff will listen and answer questions. The information gathered will assist them in developing plans to offer to policymakers, as well as serve as important mechanism to better understand current civil rights issues affecting your community. While the Civil Rights Commission expects and encourages an open discussion on a variety of civil rights issues, the Colorado Civil Rights Division’s jurisdiction for enforcing the state’s civil rights laws are in the areas of housing, employment and public accommodations.
