State Board of Veterinary Medicine: Continuing Education Information

Veterinarians and academic veterinarians in Active status must complete at least 32 hours of continuing education every two years before a license can be renewed.

Board Policy Criteria for Continuing Education - Approved Courses, Approval Requests and Documentation of Hours, was updated on December 14, 2017 and streamlines the process for continuing education approval. The new policy contains criteria for courses automatically approved by the Board. Courses meeting this criteria no longer need to be reviewed and approved by the Board.

If a course does not meet the new criteria for approved courses, you may submit a completed CE Course Approval Request Form. Only submit this completed form if a course does not meet the new criteria for approved courses.

Complete information about continuing education requirements can be found in section 12-64-110(4)(a) C.R.S., Board Rule II.F, and the Board Policies.
