The purpose of the Nurse Aide Advisory Committee (NAAC) is for the protection of the consumers of nurse aide care in the long term care and home health settings. Since the beginning of Colorado's statutory regulation of certified nurse aides, beginning in July of 1989, the State Legislature has granted the Board of Nursing the authority to form an Advisory Committee to assist the Board in the certification and enforcement of nurse aides.
The NAAC is comprised of seven members: a certified nurse aide, a licensed professional nurse or a licensed practical nurse who supervises certified nurse aides, a member who represents a home health agency, a member who represents a nursing facility, a member (employee) who represents the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE), and two members who represent the public. Apply to be a Nurse Aide Advisory Committee Member.
