Healthcare Professions Profile Program: Report a Profile Inaccuracy

The Healthcare Professions Profile Program is a unique program. The process for reporting incomplete or inaccurate profiles is similar to the method a licensing board or program would use to process complaints.

An administrative fine may be issued if any reporting requirement violation is found, but the fine is not reportable as discipline to national data banks and associations. The Director is required to refer any information regarding the imposition of an administrative fine to the respective board or program.

If the board or program feels that there has been a violation of its specific statute, it may open a case and move forward with an investigation. An imposed administrative fine does not immediately determine that there is a violation of the board or program’s practice act.

Upon receiving information stating that an individual does not have accurate information on his or her online profile, the Healthcare Professions Profile Program begins investigating the claim. A letter of inquiry will be sent to the licensee, registrant or certificate holder asking if the information is accurate. The licensee, registrant or certificate holder has 30 days to respond to the Director and update his or her online profile. The Director has the authority to impose a fine of up to $5000.

The Healthcare Professions Profile Program office relies heavily on others - such as consumers, other licensees, and other offices within the division - to let us know when an individual is not in compliance with the Michael Skolnik Medical Transparency Act. Profile information is provided by applicants and licensees and is not verified by our office. We believe the information to be accurate, but can make no guarantees.

Practitioners who have an inactive or lapsed license, registration or certification are not required to complete a profile until they apply for reactivation or reinstatement.
