Veterans Occupational Credentialing and Licensing (VOCAL) is the program within DORA's Division of Professions and Occupations charged with implementing House Bill 16-1197, which requires state agencies to streamline occupational credentials based on military training.

Fee Waivers

You may be considered for a renewal fee waiver for your professional license. Official military documentation is required. Active duty personnel assigned to serve in an officially designated war, emergency or contingency for at least 120 days in length may be eligible for this exemption.

Apply Education & Training

House Bill 11-1100 allows education and training received in the military to go towards necessary qualifications to receive licensure or certification. Members of the armed forces or reserves of the United States, National Guard, military reserves or the naval militia of any state are covered.

Relocated Spouse Licensure

For most professions regulated by the Division of Professions and Occupations, a military spouse who has been relocated to Colorado by military orders, and has an active license in good standing from another state, can practice for up to one year from the date they move before obtaining a Colorado license. Learn more about House Bill 12-1059.

License Reinstatement

DORA implemented Colorado legislation to establish reinstatement criteria for a military member’s license which expired during combat service. This program ensures a swift and clear pathway for military professionals to re-establish a license.
