DHSEM Funds Spring Fire Recovery Efforts through Colorado Long Term Recovery Work Group
Last week, the Colorado Division of Emergency Management notified the Costilla and Huerfano Boards of County Commissioners of funding assistance approved for their Spring Fire recovery efforts. The recovery support includes:
- Funding from the Office of Emergency Management, through the Disaster Emergency Fund (DEF) towards the local match for exigent projects identified in the National Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) Emergency Watershed Protection program study.
- The state's Long Term Recovery Working Group (LTRWG) continues to evaluate cost share options for non-exigent NRCS projects and will work with the counties to develop a solution.
- The LTRWG intends to fund one recovery manager position for Herfano and Costilla Counties for up to two years. The LTRWG is prepared to begin discussions with the counties to develop and agree upon scope of dities and parameters for the position. The Colorado Department of Local Affairs regional managers and Colorado Office of Emergency Management regional field managers will coordinate with county managers and emergency managers to arrange required meetings.
The LTRWG and its member departments are committed to working with Costilla and Huerfano Counties as they recovery from this disaster. Our regional representatives will work closely with your county managers and emergency managers to develop cooperative approaches to recovery, mitigation and resiliency projects.
