Denver, CO– This week, the Colorado Department of Public Safety’s (CDPS) Compliance and Professional Standards Office (CPSO), at the request of the Director of the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control (DFPC) began a review of the Elkhorn Creek Unit Prescribed Fire that escaped on October 16th. This is being conducted pursuant to Colorado Revised Statutes Section 24-33.5-1217.7 which requires a formal review following the escape of any prescribed fire.
CPSO will work closely with the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control (DFPC), the Larimer County Sheriff's Office, and The Nature Conservancy throughout this process. Upon completion of the review, DFPC will publish the final report on their website and distribute to the public.
