(December 21, 2018—Lakewood, CO)— Winter holidays can be an exciting and joyous time of the year; a time for families and friends to get together. But that also means a greater risk for fire. Watch as Chris Brunette, Fire and Life Safety Section Chief with the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control (DFPC), outlines a few simple tips that will ensure a happy and fire safe holiday season.
Test your smoke alarms and tell guests about your home fire escape plan.
Keep children and pets away from lit candles.
Never use lighted candles near trees, curtains, drapes or near any potentially flammable items. Battery-operated candles are more safe to use.
Choose decorations that are flame retardant or flame resistant.
