Members of the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control (DFPC) are grieving the loss of one of their members. On Monday, April 15, Unit Chief Sean Schwartzkopf passed away.
“Sean will be remembered for his warm and generous spirit, combined with his wonderful sense of humor - he had the most contagious smile of anyone I’ve ever known” said Fire and Life Safety Section Chief, Chris Brunette. “He was a dedicated public servant and was passionate about the work he did; he will surely be missed.”
DFPC is coordinating peer support resources to provide assistance to each employee during this difficult time.
"We have lost a great friend but are blessed by his memory, which will live on each day through his DFPC brothers and sisters who execute the mission just as passionately as he did," said DFPC Director Mike Morgan. "Please keep the Schwartzkopf family in your thoughts as they navigate this difficult time."
“Among the meaningful and important work that Colorado Department of Public Safety does every single day, one of our primary missions is to help others deal with the pain and consequences of tragic loss,” said CDPS Executive Director Stan Hilkey. “Today we are reminded that oftentimes the caregivers must also look inward to help each other during times of pain.”
