The Local Victim Assistance and Law Enforcement (VALE) Program provides grant funding to agencies that provide services to crime victims within Local Judicial Districts (PDF) based on money collected from certain crimes. These funds are collected and used for grants to agencies that provide services to crime victims within the local judicial district from which the surcharge was imposed.
For more information about a specific Local VALE program, please see the Local VALE Administrators List (PDF).
According to state statute, Local VALE has two funding priority areas. Local VALE funds are used to establish funding programs that implement the Victim Rights Act. Local VALE funding is also used for victim and witness services which include crisis intervention services, victim services referrals, victim assistance programs, and counseling.
The Office for Victims Programs publishes a report every year detailing the activities of how Local VALE funds are distributed throughout the state.
