Welcome Consultant Kelly Mitchell

October 31, 2019 - The CWDC is excited to welcome education consultant Kelly Mitchell to the team. In her new role, Kelly will be working as a consultant focusing on postsecondary and workforce readiness in a shared position between the CWDC and Colorado Department of Education.

We wanted to share some more information about Kelly in her own words:

Hello, my name is Kelly Mitchell, and I am the new education consultant with the CWDC and the Office of Postsecondary Readiness at CDE. I was born and raised in Colorado―Denver to be exact―and while I moved briefly to Chicago, Colorado drew me back home. I have a Bachelor's degree in statistics from Colorado State University and a Master's degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of Denver.

For the past 10 years I have been in the secondary education world. First as a teacher, then as a program coordinator, and most recently as a Dean of Students. I am very passionate about education and know that as our workforce needs evolve, our education system will need to as well to make sure our students have access to meaningful postsecondary opportunities. I believe that we should be preparing our students through multiple avenues and we should support our industries and businesses with a workforce that has the skills they are looking for in order to thrive. My role is to help make these connections and support both education and business in their program development.

You'll find, through a large number of pictures, that I am very dedicated to my family. My husband and I are lucky to have a very strong-willed and active toddler who gives me a workout every day. I spend my time outside of work exploring with them, filling my movie library, and shopping online.

I look forward to working with both government agencies and our community to further strengthen the economy and opportunities for both Colorado students and businesses.

Welcome to the CWDC, Kelly!
