EDCC Regional Economic Development Forum for South Central Colorado

July 22, 2019 - On June 27, CWDC staff traveled to Pueblo to attend and present at the EDCC Regional Economic Development Forum focusing on economic development regions 4, 7, 8, 13, and 14 in south central Colorado. There were more than 130 attendees at the event representing a diverse group of stakeholders from business, government, and other industry groups.

At the convening the CWDC shared the various efforts taking place across the state to meet workforce demands. CWDC Associate Colleen Wohnoutka led a panel that highlighted how groups across southern Colorado are working with their communities to ensure industry has the talent it needs to thrive, including through sector partnerships. The panel included representatives from Pueblo Community College, Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center, and the Pueblo Economic Development Corp.

Other presentations throughout the day invited discussion about topics such as what it means to be economic development ready and how to attract a skilled labor force. During the keynote presentation, OEDIT Executive Director Betsy Markey also highlighted the newly announced Colorado Mutual Prosperity (COMP) Program. The program is designed to encourage collaboration between key economic development stakeholders in Colorado’s urban and rural communities by expanding the benefits of large, urban job creation projects. Interested parties can attend an informational webinar on July 25 to learn more.

The CWDC was proud to be a sponsor of this event and looks forward to continued collaboration with our economic development partners. Learn more about the EDCC Regional Forum.
