BEL Commission Visit to the Cherry Creek Innovation Campus

November 4, 2019 - The October BEL Commission meeting was hosted at the new Cherry Creek Innovation Campus (CCIC), which opened in August 2019 to provide career-connected learning for students.

CCIC is a stand-alone college and career preparedness facility accessible for high school students in Cherry Creek schools, with curriculum rooted in real-world skills and trade certifications. The campus focuses on “pathways of purpose for all” to highlight the wide range of productive post-high school pathways such as entering the military, pursuing a credential, starting a career, or attending a two or four year college. CCIC functions under the CTE umbrella to prepare students for the future of work and learning. Read more about the campus.

BEL Commission members had the opportunity to tour the campus and learn about the work that went into making CCIC a reality for students. An important component for the development of the campus was the input solicited from businesses and community members. Business was critical in leading the conversation about the vision for successful graduates, helping CCIC to create career-connected learning opportunities that are responsive to the demands of industry.

Thank you to CCIC for hosting the BEL Commission meeting and demonstrating how engagement between education and business can help Colorado students succeed.
