June 20, 2019 - The CWDC is excited to welcome Josh Hernandez to the team as a summer intern through Denver Public School’s CareerConnect program. Josh will be working with the CWDC in June and July and will be focused on reviewing and improving the TalentFOUND gateway for job seekers and students.
June 13, 2019 - The State Youth Council named five grant recipients for their Youth Innovation Grants. The grantees include the Blind Institute of Technology, Soccer Without Borders, the Northwest Colorado Center for Independence, Fostering Hope Foundation, and Shiloh House.
June 10, 2019 - The Colorado Department of Labor and Employment is now seeking grant applicants for the fifth cycle of the Skilled Worker Outreach, Recruitment, and Key Training Act (WORK Act). The CWDC executive committee will finalize awards based on recommendations from the grant review committee
June 6, 2019 - The second urban-focused TalentFOUND Quarterly Conversation took place at Ivywild School in Colorado Springs on May 30. The discussion brought together 35 representatives from workforce boards, community colleges, and career and technical colleges.
May 15, 2019 - CWDC staff and partners attended the 2019 Western Pathways Conference in Portland, Ore. on May 8-10. The conference focused on identifying innovative and effective solutions for creating education and workforce development systems that better prepare young adults for careers.
May 9, 2019 - This week the CWDC joins with the Colorado Office of Economic Development & International Trade (OEDIT), the Economic Development Council of Colorado (EDCC), and other economic development stakeholders in celebration of Economic Development Week May 6-11.
April 25, 2019 - The Spring RON Convening took place in Baltimore, M.D., on April 3-4. More than 100 attendees, including CWDC staff, attended the convening to network with other RON members and learn about strategies for supporting the advancement of frontline retail workers.
April 15, 2019 - In 2015, the legislature created the Skilled Worker Outreach, Recruitment, and Key Training Act (WORK Act). This matching grant program provides funding to help organizations promote their skilled worker training programs such as apprenticeships, pre-apprenticeships, bootcamps, associate degrees, and certificate programs.
