  • COPS — the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services is the office of the U.S. Department of Justice that advances the practice of community policing in America’s state, local and tribal law enforcement agencies. 
  • Bomb Threats in Schools

Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)

    • Published in 2012 by the FBI Bomb Data Center.
    • This bulletin has been prepared in order to provide law enforcement and public safety agencies with a working base from which to establish their own bomb threat response capability; and to enable these same agencies, when called upon by potential bomb or bomb threat targets in the business community, to offer assistance in developing guidelines for a bomb threat response plan.

Lessons Learned Information Sharing (LLIS.gov)

  • Lessons Learned Information Sharing (LLIS.gov) is a Department of Homeland Security/Federal Emergency Management Agency program. LLIS.gov serves as the national, online network of lessons learned, best practices, and innovative ideas for the emergency management and homeland security communities. This information and collaboration resource helps emergency response providers and homeland security officials prevent, protect against, respond to, and recover from terrorist attacks, natural disasters, and other emergencies.
  • LLIS.gov provides federal, state, local, tribal and territorial responders and emergency managers with a wealth of information and front-line expertise on effective planning, training, and operational practices across homeland security functional areas. LLIS.gov includes a library of exclusive documents and user-submitted materials related to all aspects of homeland security and emergency management.

U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS)

  • A DHS Bomb Threat Procedures and Checklist has also been created to assist in reponding to a bomb threat. Additional information has been created to supplament the video and can be found on the DHS.gov website
  • Understanding and Planning for School Bomb Incidents (UPSBI)
    • Online course for emergency responders and school staff that addresses the issues involved in formulating safe and effective response plans for school bomb incidents.
    • Developed by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Office of Domestic Preparedness in conjunction with the Energetic Material Research and Testing Center at the University of New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology. Because the course is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, it is offered at not charge.
    • This is a four-hour online course consisting of five modules - participants may start and stop the course at their convenience.
    • Course methodology includes study text, multimedia participant activities, and end-of-module assessments.
