Outstanding Drug Recognition Expert

Awarded to a Drug Recognition Expert who has demonstrated superior dedication to preventing drunk and drugged driving crashes. In addition, the awardee has made significant educational efforts around drug recognition during the past year.

 

 

 


TROOPER EDWARD GAWKOSKI
Individual Dedication to DUI

Awarded to an individual that has demonstrated outstanding DUI/DUID enforcement including public awareness and significant educational efforts in the community, visible enforcement (e.g. sobriety checkpoints) and professional development. 

 

 

 


TROOPER JOSHUA PRITCHETT
Outstanding Dedication to Occupant Protection

The majority of people killed in impaired driving crashes are unrestrained. This award is given to a law enforcement officer who has shown outstanding commitment to education, and awareness and enforcement of safety belt laws and child passenger safety. 

 

 

 


TROOPER JERRY SHARP
Colonel Mark V. Trostel Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award

Highest honor bestowed on an individual in recognition of outstanding service to the field of DUI enforcement, traffic safety and underage drinking enforcement. After more than 30 years in law enforcement, retired Col. Mark Trostel continues to be a passionate advocate for driving safety as a driving safety advisor to Encana Oil & Gas. During his six-year tenure as Chief of the Colorado State Patrol, the state rose from 32nd to 5th in the national ranking for traffic safety, achieving a 66% reduction in injury and fatality crashes.
