The CSP Port of Entry Officer Intern (Statewide) announcement is currently open through February 14, 2017, 5:00 pmThis recruitment will be used to fill the June 19, 2017 Port of Entry Academy class. 
This announcement is posted as open competitive to applicants that are State of Colorado Resident at time of application, however, per Amendment S, the Cortez work location is located within 30 miles of the Colorado state border and will accept applicants who are not residents of the State of Colorado.

Application and Selection Process Timeline for June 19, 2017 POE Academy

Step 1

The first step is to submit an online employment application, before the closing date, by visiting the State of Colorado's online application website at CoJobs. An HR Analyst will review your online application against the state's minimum qualifications for the job.

Step 2

All qualified applicants will be invited to participate in an online testing on February 15, 2017. The exam must be completed by February 17, 2017. 

Step 3

The top group identified as a result of the online testing will be invited to participate in the interview process scheduled for February 22 and 28, 2017. The interviews will be taking place in Golden, CO. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • State of Colorado residency is required at time of application (exception for the Loma work location) AND
  • Possession of a valid State of Colorado Driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 18 years of age or older is preferred

  • High School Diploma or GED is preferred

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree (not required).

  • Good oral and written communication skills. 

  • Ability to follow instructions and be receptive to training.

  • Excellent customer service skills. 

  • Ability to operate computer systems. 

  • Ability to multi-task. 

Conditions of Employment 

  • Ability to attend and successfully complete the CSP Port of Entry Academy.
  • Applicants must be able to effectively communicate fluently in English verbally and in writing.

  • Applicants must be able to meet and maintain the Colorado State Patrol Port of Entry grooming standards upon employment; at time of appointment, which includes body markings, body modifications, jewelry, piercings, cosmetics, and hair;

  • Applicants must meet the standards of the Colorado State Patrol Drug-free Workplace Policy including passing a drug screen.

  • Applicants must be available to work 24/7 as needed. This includes weekends, holidays, rotating shifts, and must be able to work in all weather conditions.

  • Applicants must be willing to be able to sucessfully complete a background investigation, a polygraph exam, and a drug screen.

  • The background investigation is based on the following criteria, including but not limited to: driving history, criminal behavior/history, alcohol use/behavior, drug use/behavior and integrity.

    • If you omit any material fact on your application, testing materials, or during the background interview or polygraph, you may be disqualified.

    • If any disqualifying information is discovered at any stage of the selection process, you may be removed from consideration.

    • If you fail to follow instructions during the background investigation or polygraph interview, you may be removed from the process.
