This position is responsible for assisting the Public Health Director with the overall planning and management of the operations of CCPHA to achieve the department’s vision, mission and core values. The Deputy Director provides significant input and guidance to the director influencing executive decisions that direct the operations of the department and is responsible for managing and supervising the assigned programs and staff of the CCPHA including immunizations, health promotions and wellness and prevention services.

The Deputy Director will work under the direct supervision of the Public Health Director.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background and working experience in Public Health Epidemiology, infection control and response as well as broad preparation and substantial knowledge of nursing administration and interpersonal relationships including extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of community health nursing.

The Deputy Director will guide and assist staff members in fulfilling their responsibilities and other duties and maintaining effective working relationships as well as establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, the public, community-based organizations and other agencies.

The ideal candidate will have a Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Public Health, Public Administration, Business Administration or related field.

At least five years of professional public health or nursing experience in a generalized family health nursing service, including three years in a supervisory or administrative capacity if preferred.

A license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Colorado is also ideal.

A candidate with a Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university in Nursing, Public Health, Public Administration, or a closely related field may be considered.
