Radio communications

Providers of emergency medical and trauma care must be able to communicate with one another to maximize their efforts. Communications in the Emergency Medical and Trauma Services (EMTS) system include:

  • Access to the system through 911 services.
  • Pre-arrival instructions to callers.
  • Dispatch of prehospital services.
  • Communications with physicians for online medical control and notification of patients being transported to facilities.
Colorado’s radio system
The state has a statewide digital trunked radio system that providers of emergency medical and trauma care can use for communications.
