PPAB assistance committee
The Assistance Committee typically meets on the second Tuesday of each month on our campus at 4300 Cherry Creek Drive South, Denver. Meetings are held from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM. To confirm meeting times, please contact:
House Bill 07-1288, also known as the Recycling Resources Economic Opportunity (RREO) Act, was signed into law on May 23, 2007. The law was extended via House Bill 10-1052 through July 1, 2017, and again via Senate Bill 13-050 through July 1, 2026. House Bill 07-1288 created this 13-member committee to advise the board with awarding grants and rebates from the RREO Fund. Key responsibilities of the committee include:
Make recommendations to the board in connection with the awarding of grants from the RREO grant fund.
Serve as grant monitor for several grant projects. This includes reading and commenting on project reports and attending site visits as needed.
Make recommendations to the board on the formula created for paying rebates to entities that recycle certain commodities.
Make recommendations to the board, as requested, on policy matters related to sustainable resource and discarded materials management.
The committee is composed of representatives from the department, the Office of Economic Development and International Trade, the Colorado Energy Office, rural and urban counties, rural and urban cities, and those who have close ties to a for-profit business or nonprofit organization that emphasizes waste diversion activities. All committee members are appointed by the Executive Director of the department. All members serve four year terms beginning August 1st. Members may serve up to three consecutive terms.
