Physician requirements to recommend Medical Marijuana

To recommend medical marijuana, you must:
  • Be an M.D. or D.O. in good standing with a license to practice medicine issued by the state of Colorado.
  • Have a copy of your current DEA certificate on file with us. If you have not already submitted a copy of your DEA certificate, please email it to us at:
*If you let your DEA certificate expire your patients will be rejected.
Submit a physician certification
There are two ways to submit a physician certification:
  1. Submit it online. Fastest and most secure method for both patients and physicians. Patients are unable to register online if their physician is not registered to recommend medical marijuana using the online system.
  2. Complete a paper physician certification and provide this document to the patient for them to mail in with their application packet. Processing time on applications received can take 6-8 weeks.
