Deadline to apply is November 30, 2018, 5:00 pm MT

Funding Opportunity Details
RFA #11958 is to fund a statewide not-for-profit organization to provide healthy eating incentives to Colorado’s low-income populations. These funds are to be used for improving access to fresh Colorado grown fruits and vegetables ensuring more families have access to healthy food, local farmers gain new customers, and more food dollars stay in the community. It is the General Assembly’s intent that the statewide not-for-profit organization awarded use no portion of this appropriation for administrative expenses. Funds are solely for healthy eating incentives. The statewide not-for-profit organization must have experience in supporting healthy eating incentive programs, such as programs at local farmers markets, and experience with coordinating healthy eating programs and funding between local, state, and federal programs.

Eating a healthy diet is important for overall health and weight management, but it's more difficult for some people because healthy food options aren't readily available, easily accessible or affordable. Healthier food and beverage initiatives
Promising strategies underway in Colorado include increasing the availability of healthier food in retail stores, including corner stores or small grocery stores, and promoting the adoption of food service guidelines and nutrition standards in hospitals and state agencies. For more information about these and other strategies, visit the CDC's Increasing Access to Healthier Food and Beverages page.
