Mike Nugent serves as the chief strategy officer at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. Prior to this position, he served as deputy county manager for Eagle County Government, responsible for leading the county's strategic initiatives and policy implementation. His previous work experience included serving as vice president of operations for Metro Community Provider Network, a large federally qualified health system serving the Denver metro area; chief performance officer at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment; and director of transportation safety at the Colorado Department of Transportation. Prior to joining state government in 2008, Nugent was the chief of Denver Emergency Medical Services and served as the medical branch director for the 2008 Democratic National Convention. Mike is a graduate of Regis University, M.S., management and Harvard University, Kennedy School of Government, National Preparedness Leadership Initiative. He has served as a fellow for the National Association of Public Hospitals and Health Systems and as a senior advisor to Gov. John Hickenlooper's Office of State Planning and Budgeting in the areas of Lean deployment and innovation.
