CCWP - Certification by examination
Eligibility to sit for an examination
- Applicants must meet the general requirements for Colorado certification.
- Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications for the category and level exam requested.
Submitting an application

Log in to the CCWP Portal.

User ID will be a unique email address.

Active Colorado operators should receive temporary passwords by email. (If no temporary password is received, operators should contact the CCWP team for assistance rather than create a new account.)

Only applicants who do not hold Colorado certificates should create new accounts.

Complete profile information, including education and education, in the CCWP Portal.

Apply for certification by examination in the CCWP Portal.

Applications will be reviewed within approximately 10 business days. Reviewer will

confirm eligibility to sit for exam;

request additional information from applicant; or
-
deny the application.

An email will be sent to the applicant with notification of reviewer's decision and instructions for next steps.
Preparing for the examination
- Colorado uses the 2017 edition of standard, sequential examinations developed by the Association of Boards of Certification (ABC) for all classes of certificates, except Classes "S" and "T" which are custom exams.

- Applicants preparing to take the custom Colorado Small Water System exam should review ABC's 2017 Edition Class I Water Treatment Operator Need to Know Criteria and the 2017 Edition Class I Water Distribution Operator Need to Know Criteria.
- Applicants preparing to take the custom Colorado Small Wastewater System exam should review ABC's 2017 Edition Class I Wastewater Treatment Operator Need to Know Criteria and the 2017 Edition Class I Wastewater Collection Operator Need to Know Criteria.
- Applicants preparing the take the custom Colorado Class "T" exam should review ABC's Very Small Water System Operator Need to KNow Criteria.

Scheduling the examination with PSI
- Only applicants who have beeen approved to sit for exams can schedule exams with PSI (the company that administer's Colorado's certified water professionals exams).
- Approved applicants will receive emailed instructions for scheduling exams with PSI, including a link to PSI's candidate website.

Approved candidates are strongly encouraged to read the PSI candidate handbook prior to scheduling an exam.
- Applications for paper exams are available at the end of the handbook for Colorado Certified Water Professionals.
- Applications for paper exams must be submitted to PSI.
