Air ambulance in Colorado
Air ambulance services are regulated by the state when they transport patients out of Colorado. If your air ambulance service agency wants to provide this service, it must be either licensed or authorized by the State of Colorado.
 
Choosing: License or authorization?
  • License requirements (all of the following)
    • Create/update your agency profile in the Colorado EMTS Information System (CEMSIS)
    • Accredited by the Commission of Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS)
    • FAA Part 135 Air Carrier Certificate
    • Compliance with FCC part 90 rule
    • Liability insurance which displays the tail numbers of each aircraft to be licensed
    • Comply with department data submission requirement
       
  • Authorization requirements (one of the following)
    • Licensed as an air ambulance service by another state
      OR
    • Accredited by the Commission of Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS)
