The composition of the board is governed by statute, Section 25-1-103, C.R.S. The statute requires a representative from each congressional district and two at-large members. One member must also be a county commissioner. In addition, the statute requires that no more than five members be from a single political party. The Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment may serve as an ex officio member. After statutory requirements are met we look for subject matter expertise and diversity an individual can bring to the board. Along with race, ethnic and gender diversity, we value generational diversity, inclusion of persons with disabilities, rural and urban representation, and representation of community partners such as government, community-based organiztions, business, advocacy organizations and citizens.
