Woolley-Sosa and Erie Champlin oil and gas sites Complaint and Health Concern Summary

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment and the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission received a large volume of complaints and reports of health concerns to the Oil and Gas Health Information and Response Program in December 2016 related to two oil and gas sites in Erie. Residents have expressed concerns about noise, odor, lighting and health.
The two sites are the Woolley-Sosa site in unincorporated Weld County adjacent to Erie, where new wells are being drilled, and the Erie Champlin site in Erie, where well maintenance is being conducted.

The two agencies have completed multiple inspections or community site visits since these reports began. Other than one “lighting” complaint, which was corrected the same day, no violations have been found. No unusual odors were detected during CDPHE community site visits.

Residents with health concerns or odor complaints may contact the Oil and Gas Health Information and Response Program at 303-389-1687 or submit information online at www.colorado.gov/OGhealth. Residents with noise, lighting, or other operational complaints may submit a complaint to the COGCC at http://cogcc.state.co.us/complaints.html#/complaints
