2018-2019 Assessment and planning overview
Every five years, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment is charged with developing a comprehensive plan and setting priorities for providing essential public health to Colorado residents (C.R.S. § 25-1-501).
This is required by the 2008 Public Health Act and the national Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB). Community-driven engagement and approaches are included throughout this process, which is not only a best practice, but is critical to effectively improving the health and well-being of Coloradans.
A roadmap, guiding principles and timeline have been created by reviewing past relevant processes, gathering input via survey from partners who engaged in the last assessment and planning process, and facilitating input from CDPHE staff across department divisions.
