Winter Job Fair Coming to Lamar on January 25

Lamar Workforce Center to bring job seekers and employers together in free event

The Lamar Workforce Center will hold a job fair on Wednesday, January 25 from 10 am to 2 pm.  It is an event designed to connect job seekers with a wide variety of job opportunities.

Job seekers throughout Prowers County are encouraged to attend.  Whether you’re ready to make a major career transition or simply want to explore your options, you’ll find employers at the event who will be interested in talking with you.  Job seekers should come prepared to complete applications, interview and/or present their résumés to recruiters.

Date:          Wednesday, January 25
Time:         10 AM to 2 PM
Location:   Lamar Workforce Center
                   405 E. Olive Street

The Lamar Workforce Center, an employment and training office run by the Department of Labor and Employment, has a proven track record, helping hundreds of people each year find new careers and connect with training opportunities that will help them on their career path.

In September, the Lamar Workforce Center held a hugely successful Customer Appreciation/Job Fair. Given the popularity of that event and the region’s tight labor market (the unemployment rate in Prowers is at 2.3 percent, down from 3.6 percent just a year ago), the time is right to again bring employers and job seekers together.

The Winter Job Fair will offer full-time and part-time job opportunities in a wide variety of industry sectors.  “Be personable and ready to summarize your skills in an exciting environment,” advises Lamar Workforce Center Director Betty Velasquez.  “The goal is to leave a clear impression of the benefits you have to offer.  If you’re prepared, you could walk out of our Workforce Center with a great job opportunity.”
