(La Junta) -- On Friday, March 28, the Southeast Workforce Center in La Junta will hold a Youth Job Fair at Otero Junior College Banquet Room, 1802 Colorado Avenue in La Junta from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

The event is anticipated to draw hundreds of young adults between the ages of 14 - 24 to learn about job opportunities in such key industries as Healthcare, Manufacturing, Hospitality, Retail and Agriculture as well as many others.

Each summer, employers throughout Otero County provide a diverse selection of jobs to young adults.   There are both full-time and part-time seasonal jobs available for youth.

“Everyone has stories to tell about their first summer job experience,” says Betty Velasquez, director of the workforce centers in south central and southeast Colorado.   We want to help make sure that the hundreds of teens we assist this summer will have good stories to recount in the years ahead.”

During the event, teens can learn about job opportunities from recruiters with a variety of  employers including Hirakata Farms, Southeast Health Group, Bent County Early Learning Center, the Colorado State Patrol and several retail businesses.

It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the prospect of entering the workplace but young people in La Junta and across Otero County will be better prepared for this summer and even the years ahead through their participation in this hiring event Summer Job Fair on March 28.

Young people are encouraged to pre-register by contacting the Southeast Workforce Center in La Junta at 308 Santa Fe Avenue or by phone at 719-383-3191.
