Delta Employers: Presentation On Workers' Compensation To Be Offered

The Department of Labor and Employment’s Division of Workers Compensation is holding a series of free presentations across Colorado this summer to help employers better understand the state’s workers’ compensation laws.  One of these educational presentations, hosted by the Delta Workforce Center, will be held at the Delta County Economic Development Office conference room at 145 West 4th Street in Delta on July 12 at 10 AM.

The presentation will help employers learn about workers’ compensation coverage requirement, statutory exceptions to those requirements, the means of obtaining coverage and potential consequences of failing to maintain insurance.

Additionally, representatives from the Division of Workers Compensation will explain the steps an employer needs to take in the event of an injury to ensure that the injured worker gets appropriate treatment and benefits and that all parties receive timely notification of the injury.

“Most business owners are familiar with the basic idea of workers’ compensation,” says Ellen Golombek, Executive Director of the Department of Labor and Employment, “but they may not fully understand their responsibilities. This presentation will underscore the most important information business owners and human resource professionals need, delivered in a way that’s easily understood and immediately applicable.”

The free workshop provides an opportunity to build knowledge, improve practices and make sense of it all.  Employers will learn their rights and responsibilities, get their questions answered and come away from the presentation with better insights about workers’ compensation in Colorado.”

Because seating is limited, reservations are required.  To RSVP or learn more about this event, contact the Dale Ann Suckow at 970-874-5781.
