Youth Support the Humane Society of the South Platte Valley
Youth at Lookout Mountain Youth Services Center are enjoying their partnership with the Humane Society of the South Platte Valley in Littleton (HSSPV). The HSSPV is a non profit 501(c)(3) organization established to serve the communities of southern Denver. They offer shelter, care, and compassion for lost, stray, and unwanted animals until they are picked up by their families or adopted into a new home. In December 2009, the youth at Lookout Mountain helped build fences, kennels, paint and prepare for this shelter to open. Since that time, the youth continue to support the shelter with cleaning, dog walking, socialization, and pet/food drives. The youth love this activity, being able to support their four legged friends, and to prepare the animals for families to be adopted. Please enjoy the photo from this past Saturday when two youth visited the facility's cats just before they worked to obtain their certification for dog walking.
