Youth Centers Awarded Grants to Libraries

State Grants to Libraries (SGtL) funds are awarded each year to support efforts to improve literacy and learning. The Institutional Library Development program received 11 proposals from six Division of Youth Services (DYS) libraries. Each of the six libraries received at least one award, ranging from $200 to $800 each. The applicants demonstrated a need for materials and provided plans to measure impact on patrons.

Funded projects will:

  • improve nonfiction collections
  • initiate book discussion groups
  • increase availability of games and puzzles that encourage pro-social interactivity
  • introduce technology such as Playaway Launchpad and Kindle Fire devices

Congratulations to the six libraries who received awards!
