Speak Now! offers Back to School resources
The Office of Behavioral Health, through Speak Now!, a Colorado-specific statewide social marketing campaign, launched Back-to-School messaging emphasizing the importance of parents speaking to their kids about the dangers of drugs and alcohol as they return to the classroom. The statewide campaign utilized a mix of television interviews, and online, television, radio and print ads.
The messaging highlighted new survey data showing that the number of college students in Colorado engaging in frequent cannabis use is higher than in other states. The same survey also shows that adolescents, even college-attending, listen to their parents and care what they think about alcohol and drug use - thus the need for parents to continue speaking with their college-age young adults.
Speak Now! Colorado provides evidence-based information and resources to parents and caregivers regarding youth substance abuse prevention in Colorado. Its goal is to help parents start an ongoing conversation with youth and young adults about the risks of alcohol, marijuana, prescription medications and other drugs.
