Grand Mesa Youth Summit Stage Coach Trail

On November 1, 2017 the Grand Mesa Youth Services Center (GMYSC) Adventure Club set out to hike the Stage Coach Trail in Palisade, CO. Eight youth and six staff packed their lunches and hit the trail with beautiful fall weather. The youth were able to learn a bit of history, as the trail is part of the actual route that was used by the stagecoach to travel from Grand Junction to Parachute from the early to mid 1900s. The group hiked over 5 miles, while climbing 1200 ft to the flagpole that overlooks Mesa County. New members of the club were able to enjoy the experience of hiking, as many had never been on a hike, and old members were able to enjoy some new scenery on a trail the club had never completed. The team looks forward to continuing to add more members in the coming weeks, and getting youth out of the facility to experience the beauty of the Grand Valley.
