June 29, 2017 - "Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope." With this vision in mind, on Thursday, June 29, the employees of the Division of Youth Services (DYS) Western Region Office volunteered to work on the local Habitat for Humanity home build in Grand Junction. The team helped in many ways, including grouting the tile in two bathrooms, a laundry room and a furnace room; prepping and sanding interior doors for painting; installing exterior flashing, house wrap, windows and doors; cutting and trimming the windows; and even applied siding to the exterior of the house. The day was a tremendous success, and demonstrated the commitment of the DYS employees to support families in their community. The team's willingness and enthusiasm to take part in a community support day was such a success, they are planning to make it an annual event.
