Colorado PEAK Program Access Rolls Out in DYS Youth Centers
“It takes a village…” We all have heard that phrase and in this case, the Division of Youth Services (DYS) is connecting with services provided by other CDHS divisions to help create that village of support for the families they serve. Often we do not know who might be in need of some additional assistance in their lives and often families may not know there is help out there. Last week began the installation of PEAK access stations in DYS secure youth centers to give families easy access to the Colorado PEAK website; a single access point to help families with health coverage, food, child care, job readiness training, and more. Through the website, families can explore the types of services that are available and begin the application process for services.
This is just one of many activities by the Colorado Department of Human Service's 2Gen committee to ensure parents in Colorado have the resources necessary to raise healthy, successful children. The Division of Youth Services is in the process of installing PEAK access laptops in all ten youth centers statewide for families. Two youth centers, Mount View Youth Services Center and Lookout Mountain Youth Services Center currently have the laptops in place and running. The remaining youth centers will be online in the next three weeks. The Division of Youth Services is excited about this new resource for the families they serve.
