CDHS meets with Joint Budget Committee about 2019-20 budget request

Today, Colorado Department of Human Services Executive Director Reggie Bicha, Deputy Executive Director of Operations Tony Gherardini, and other members of the CDHS leadership team met with the Joint Budget Committee to discuss the FY 2019-20 budget request as it relates to the Office of Children, Youth and Families' Division of Child Welfare and the Office of Administrative Solutions-Operations.

Topics for discussion included FY 2019-20 budget requests to increase the number of county child welfare caseworkers, implement rate increases for child welfare providers, and improve the monitoring of 24/7 child placement facilities. Additionally, they discussed staffing for the department's Employment Affairs Division. The discussion also involved the implementation of the Federal Family First Prevention and Services Act, which builds on multiple changes to child welfare practice under the Hickenlooper administration, and the Colorado Child Abuse Reporting Hotline.
