Lifeguard Certification Classes
The Canon City Area Receation and Park District is looking for lifeguards at the R.C. Icabone Swimming Pool this summer. In order to be considered for hire you must be certified and there are a series of classes coming up in the month of May. Lifeguard certification is not a guarantee of employment. You will learn how to effectively prevent and respond to water emergencies with the American Red Cross lifeguard training. Our courses are designed to arm you with the skills and knowledge to prepare you for a variety of scenarios in and around the water. With our lifguard training, you will learn how quick response times and effective preparation are vital to being a lifeguard while also understanding the crucial elements in helping to prevent drownings and injuries. Re-certification for lifeguard and first aid/CPR:
Water Safety Instructor (WSI):
--Must be at least 16-years old at the time of course completion to be WSI
--Certification valid for two years
--Price $ 289.00- Classes will be held the first week of June.
Prices include $39 certification fee.
Sign up for Lifeguard and WSI training for a combined cost of $475 which includes all materials and the certification fees.
If hired by the Canon City Area Recreation and Park District, these fees can be arranged to be paid back to the District through payroll deductions until the fee is repaid.
