Shooting in Weston Sends Two to Hospital

11/24/2018—The Las Animas County Sheriff’s Office (LACSO) requested the assistance of the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to investigate an incident where two Weston residents were shot in their home in the 17000 block of County Rd. 18.6, just after Noon on Saturday, November 24, 2018.

CBI agents and members of the LACSO continue to investigate the circumstances of the incident that led to the male and female being shot. The female is receiving treatment at an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the male victim was transported to a Colorado Springs Hospital via Flight for Life for treatment. His condition is unknown at this time.

In the hours following the shooting, three individuals were contacted during a traffic stop in Las Animas County and are currently being detained at the LACSO. It’s believed the three individuals who are currently being detained are known to the victims and may be connected to the incident.

Weston is located approximately 22 miles west of Trinidad in southern Colorado.

The investigation is ongoing.
