Arrest Made in Colorado AMBER Alert
06/25/2018—The Colorado AMBER Alert from Sunday (June 24) was canceled after law enforcement contacted the suspect and the juvenile victim in Utah, just after 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 25, 2018.
A citizen called the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office after observing suspicious/concerning behavior between two individuals, who were later identified as David Glenn Freeman (DOB: 10/13/1957) and the missing 12-year-old child. They were contacted in Garfield County near the town of Panguitch, Utah. Garfield County Sheriff’s Office deputies took Freeman into custody without incident.
The 12-year-old Saguache County boy was taken to a Utah hospital to be evaluated. Police are not naming the juvenile while law enforcement officials investigate what took place when he was with Freeman.
Freeman is being held in the Garfield County Jail.
Investigators believe Freeman and the juvenile are known to one another, but are not related.
The Saguache County Sheriff’s Office, Colorado Bureau of Investigation and Federal Bureau of Investigation are conducting interviews and other investigative work on this active case.
Note: The CBI learned the AMBER Alert for some cell phone users was delayed while others received multiple notifications. The CBI team is working to determine the cause of these issues and how to prevent them in the future.
