Original news release

From our partners at the Grand Junction Police Department… Detectives with the Grand Junction Police Department, with support from other law enforcement agencies, have worked through the night to follow up on tips, conduct interviews, and develop leads regarding the whereabouts of 12-year-old Raeanna Rosencrans, who is the victim of a suspected kidnapping, which took place in Grand Junction in the afternoon of April 25.

 Person of Interest, Jody Haskin

Investigation has led to the identification of a strong person of interest in this case. We are currently attempting to locate and contact 47-year-old Jody Haskin of Grand Junction. Haskin is a white male, approximately 6′, 215 lbs, balding, with brown eyes and glasses. Haskin is the victim’s step father; however, he has no parental rights to Raeanna. Witness statements indicate that Raeanna entered the vehicle willingly. Haskin is a registered sex offender, and currently has a warrant for his arrest for sex assault on a child out of the Grand Junction Police Department. Statutory requirements prohibit the release of victim information in sex assault investigations.

The green vehicle that was initially associated to this incident has been recovered in Rifle. Investigation into the circumstances of how the car got there, who was driving, and when it arrived, is ongoing. We are not currently looking for a vehicle matching that description. Initially, there was some question as to the connection of a motorhome in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart in Rifle to this incident; however, it has since been determined that there is no association.

There is no doubt that a case like this is incredibly alarming and frightening to everyone involved, as well as the community affected by the incident. We are committed to following up on every lead in our efforts to bring Raeanna safely home. Investigation thus far indicates this is not a case of stranger abduction. As with any complex and ongoing case like this one, there will be details that we can’t share, as it’s imperative to protect the integrity of the investigation.

We urge the public to continue to share updates regarding this case and spread the information far and wide, making every attempt to reach anyone who may be able to provide valuable information. We are grateful for the support of the local, state, and federal agencies who are continuing to work with us on this investigation.

Again, we are looking to contact Jody Haskin, a 47-year-old male from Grand Junction. It is unknown how Haskin may be traveling. He is not believed to be in the area of Grand Junction any longer, and we are working to develop leads as to where he might be traveling. We are working with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation to update the Amber Alert to reflect these developments. If anyone has any information that could be valuable to this case or could aid us in locating Haskin, please call 911 immediately.
