Colorado Day 2019

DENVER - Aug. 2, 2019 - Colorado's 143rd "birthday" was celebrated in grand style at the Capitol on Thursday, August 1, 2019.

Colorado Day at the Capitol honored Colorado's anniversary of statehood, entering the Union as the 38th state on August 1, 2019. This year's festivities included music from Colorado's State Bagpiper, U.S. Army First Sergeant James DeGeorge, a live historical presentation and poster display of "Legends and Tall Tales from the Centennial State" by Capitol summer guide staff and volunteers, a display table of historic items from the Colorado State Archives, and games and activities for the family.

Attendees participated in Colorado trivia in order to register to win the world famous Mount Elbert Gift Basket, featuring donated items from local vendors and tickets to Colorado museums and attractions.
