The County Administrator serves as the chief operating officer of the county and is responsible for all county departments except those of county elected officials.
The County Administrator is responsible for implementing the policies, goals, and objectives established by the Board of County Commissioners and working with the Finance Department to develop the county budget.
Gigi Dennis joined Alamosa County as the County Administrator in May 2015.
Gigi has a broad political background including:
- Election to the Colorado State Senate and serving from 1995-2001;
- Appointment by President George W. Bush as the State Director
for USDA Rural Development from 2001-2005;
- Appointment by Governor Bill Owens as the Colorado Secretary of
State and serving from 2005-2007.
Gigi then joined the private sector and was the Senior Manager of External
Affairs for Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association before
relocating back home to the San Luis Valley.
