Commissioner Helen Sigmond
Commissioner Helen Sigmond has lived and practiced law in Alamosa for 34 years. She graduated from Gettysburg College. She has a Masters in Education from Boston College and a J.D. from American University. She is married to Jim Lester and they have two children.
Together with other committees, Helen Sigmond serves on the Sangre de Cristo National Heritage Board, the South Central Senior Citizens Board, the Alamosa County Family Preservation Plan Commission, SLV Public Health Partnership, the SLV Community Action Agency Committee, and the Court Security Team.
Commissioner Sigmond is committed to ensuring that we address the issues facing our County, including the overcrowded jail, the opioid epidemic, public health concerns, economic development, services for our seniors and other issues.
