Child Abuse Prevention Carnival a Success!
ACDHS is extremely pleased with the success of the carnival and it couldn’t have been done without all the donations and volunteers that helped in planning this event!
Every child who attended was given a free backpack that had various items inside. The Salida Circus did an awesome job entertaining the families who attended the carnival. There were many booths sponsored by various community partners. There was face painting, rock painting, a nose picking game, and the Alamosa PD had a photo booth, to name a few of the activities. SLV Health cooked and served everyone a free meal. There were hot dogs, hamburgers, chips and drinks. The SLV Brewery served up some yummy Root Beer and Black Cherry Cream Soda.
Along with the entertainment, there were many door prizes that were given out to the lucky winners. Bicycles, t-shirts, restaurant gift certificates, and toys were some of the door prizes. Colorado Gators brought snakes, a tortoise, and an alligator for families to see and touch.
The final count of number of people who attended the carnival was 875. Out of those 875, there were 521 children who attended this year. There were 33 booths sponsored by our community partners. Thank you to all who helped with this year’s carnival and for bringing awareness to Child Abuse in our community.
