Governor Announces New Agricultural Exporting Award
BROOMFIELD, Colo. – Colorado’s agricultural exports exceeded $2 billion in 2014, reaching record highs. The new Governor’s Award for Agricultural Exporting will honor those Colorado companies that export their products to countries around the globe.
Beginning in 2015, companies and commodity associations that are beginning or increasing their exports can apply for the newly established Governor’s Award for Agricultural Exporting. Award winners will be announced during the Governor's Forum on Colorado Agriculture on February 26, 2015, at the Renaissance Hotel in Denver.
“Colorado’s agricultural exports play an important role in Colorado’s economy, with agricultural exports growing 100 percent since 2009,” said Tim Larsen, Senior International Marketing Specialist with the Colorado Department of Agriculture. “Food and agriculture are the backbone of Colorado’s economy, and exports represent a critical growth area for Colorado’s farmers, ranchers and food processors.”
During the Forum the Governor will recognize two companies or organizations for their export achievements. The first award will honor new-to-export initiatives and the second will recognize the company or association that continues to develop markets and maintains a focus on excelling in exports.
Applications for the 2015 Governor’s Award for Agricultural Exporting will be accepted until January 30, 2015. Visit www.coloradoagriculture.com for more information and an application.
